What is Amazee?
Amazee is a platform that gives you the tools to publicize your goals and connect with like-minded people to run and promote projects. Whatever the goal, whatever the geographical reach, let the world participate!
What does Amazee cost?
If you run public projects, Amazee will not cost you a cent. Should you wish to run private or a semi-private projects (that are not or only partially visible to other Amazee users and visitors) or profit from other premium membership functionalities (e.g. messaging) then you would need to pay for premium membership. It’s not available yet, but it’s coming soon.
How do I become an Amazee member?
By registering (
create an account). It takes less than a minute and allows you to contribute, e.g. by joining projects, writing comments on editorial posts or by creating and inviting friends to your projects.
What are the advantages of a premium membership? (This option is not available yet)
The premium membership provides you with additional privacy and communication options. Premium members can run private and semi-private projects (where the project is not or only partially visible to other Amazee users) or use more powerful search functionalities.
Is my customer data safe?
Yes. Your data is hosted with a premium hosting provider in Switzerland. We run daily backups to ensure a high level of data security.
How can I protect my private sphere?
First of all: We will never share your email address and other members will never see it. In your personal profile you can choose to hide your other personal information from other users. Please be aware that all public data (person and project related content) can be used by Amazee for editorial purposes. E.g. to feature your project or your person on the start page or in the hall of fame. However, we ensure to do this only in your assumed interest and to help you promote your projects. If you wish to increase your private sphere, the premium membership (not available yet) provides you with a broader band of privacy options.
How can I setup my own project?
First you need to register for membership (this takes less than a minute) then click on
start a project and you will be guided through the setup process. It's short and it's very easy!
How can I join projects?
Just select the project you like then press the join button. If the project is open to all Amazee members you can join the project immediately. Should the project membership be subject to approval you will have to wait for the approval by one of the project administrators. Some projects can only be joined upon invitation from a project administrator.
Can I change a project’s settings after I have started it?
Of course! You can change the settings of your project anytime you like. Just go to your project's information tab, click the edit button and make your changes. Of course, you can only do this if you are the projects administrator. You have admin rights when you set up a project or when you join a project and you are given admin rights by another admin.
How can I change the settings of my profile page?
By entering your "personal" page and then go to profile.
What is a tag cloud?
The tag cloud contains the tags (descriptive words or so called metadata) used to describe the Amazee project by the project administrator. The more a tag is used to describe different projects on Amazee, the bigger the letters of that tag appear in the tag cloud (or in other words: the more important the tag, the bigger the font size). The tag cloud is interactive: A click on a tag and you will be linked to a list of the projects containing those tags.
What is the Amazee project news?
The Amazee project news is an editorial feed that appears on the startpage. It is mainly focused on highlighting and describing the most remarkable projects that exist in the Amazee universe. As well as featuring project oriented feeds, it will be used to update you on relevant changes on Amazee, new releases, etc.
What kind of member levels are there within a project?
There are 3 different member levels within a project:
administrator, editor and normal member.
Administrator: When you start a new project, you are an administrator by default. Being an admin, you can set all project rights, exclude members from your project, nominate other project members to be administrators (be careful: this means that they are on the same level as you), etc.
If one of the admins upgrades you from a normal member to an editor you'll have the right to edit the magazine.
Normal member is the default state when you enter a project. As a normal member you can participate in talks and wikis, view all sections of the project and even be nominated, by the admin, to be the project’s treasurer.
What is the hall of fame?
The hall of fame is a kind of a virtual museum where members and projects are displayed that have the most remarkable statistics (e.g. projects with most members, projects with the best ratings or members involved in most projects etc...).
What are alliances?
Alliances are meta-projects. They allow you to
unite any number of projects on Amazee that have something in common
under one roof. So, there could be an alliance for all projects
promoting human rights.
What are connections?
Connections
work between projects. Say you have a project up and running and
suddenly realize there is a similar one running on Amazee. You could
connect the two projects. This is useful because you may find more
visitors see your project. You could also use connections to link all
of your projects together to show your complete portfolio.
What is the Twitter integration good for?
Twitter
integration allows you to feed all updates in your project magazine –
e.g. blog posts - to your twitter account. This allows you to increase
publicity of your project to everyone that follows you on twitter. To
set up the twitter integration just enter your twitter username and
password in project setup or, if the project is already running, click
edit project and do the same.
What are widgets in the project magazine?
The widgets are basically the components of your magazine. At the moment we have:
Blog widget - this allows you to create a blog on your project magazine.
Image gallery widget – this widget enables you to upload images to your magazine.
Text and video widget – these allow you to embed videos and/or publish text to your magazine.
Feed widget – these enable you to display an RSS feed from another blog straight to your project magazine.
Recent users widget – this widget displays a list of the most recent visitors to your project.
What promotional tools are there?
We
have badges! These badges can relate to your profile on Amazee, all
the projects you are involved in or a specific project you created. You
can then place these badgets on your blog or website and promote your
project outside of Amazee.
What is the paper clip good for?
The paper clip is nothing more than a playful navigation element that shows you which project your mouse is currently on.
