Amazee

Amazee Ltd. is a Swiss internet start-up based in Zurich, Switzerland. Amazee runs and continuously develops an internet-platform that allows groups to evolve around common goals and collectively pursue them in the form of public, semi-public or closed communities.

Social Collaboration

Amazee belongs to the category of social collaboration platforms. Social collaboration platforms are internet based services that provide their users with tools to harness the ubiquity and liquidity of the web for efficient, bottom-up” collaboration. Social collaboration is a relatively young internet stream and has mainly evolved out of the combination of internet base networking, publication and collaboration tools.

What unmet need does Amazee fulfill?

Amazee meets the need of all individuals for attention and social recognition. It allows for local or global peer production, influence and participation, by allowing users to achieve real life goals. Achieving attention and social recognition are basic human motives that move people equally in the real and digital world. However, unlike the real world, the Web does not yet provide tools in sufficient number and quality to harness the productive power of the world’s population – for change, “goal-directed” participation, influence and peer production. We strongly believe that setting up a project, winning hundreds of project members, a few sponsors and thousands of passive viewers and finally achieving a set goal, fulfils the desire for social recognition. It also provides participation and influence to a greater degree than anything currently available on the Web. Achievements – more than just a colorful presence – will move the world.

Potentially, what bigger things might happen if all stars are aligned for Amazee?

Amazee will stand for "social collaboration" just as Google stands for "search" and Facebook for "social networking". Thousands of people will use Amazee to publicize their goals and run their projects. Projects of colossal scale will evolve with thousands of participants. Internet leaders will arise and social innovation will be significantly driven by Amazee’s grassroot movements. Millions of passive users will appreciate Amazee as a prime source of change and infotainment.

How did Amazee evolve?

It was in November 2006 when Prodosh and Gregory met for an after work beer and, for the first time, really started discussing the web and its developments. One evening led to another and after a few weeks they developed a rough vision of a platform that would allow people to harness the web to pursue common goals, or in other words provide the world with a place for social collaboration by combining social networking and collaboration tools.

In February 2007 Dania joined Prodosh’s and Greg’s sessions and after another few months of increasing engagement the decision "venture" vs. "good old job" was ripe. Dania and Gregory quit their jobs and together with Prodosh they founded a Ltd. in September 2007.

Through one of Greg’s friends the team got to meet Daniel Model. From their very first meeting with him they wished he would become their Angel Investor. Their wish came true in November 2007 when the team finally managed to convince Daniel do be Amazee’s angel.

In the meantime Dania and Gregory were more than lucky to be able to convince three gems without whom Amazee could not have come close to where it is today: Lucas Bally who joined the team in November and Markus Tressl who started in March 2008.
