Lakers vs. Nuggets

The Lakers didn't do so well in the last series against the Rockets. They didn't seem up to par with their usual playing level. It seems like when it really matters they step it up and win. Will the Lakers come back in this series with a stronger attitude or will it be neck and neck like the last series?

I really dont know what to expect from the lakers this series, because last series when yoa went out i thoght the rockets were done for, but the lakers let them stay in it. Both team will defantly be ready to play but i just dont know who to pick. Denver has been great ever since the arrival of chauncy billups. In my opinion i want to play the lakers just to show everyone who the better player is kobe or lebron and to show them who the better team is and bring home a championship and send the lakers home with nothing again.

Re: Lakers vs. Nuggets

I want the Nuggets to win this series because the last thing I want to see is Kobe and the Lakers get another opportunity to win another championship. But in all reality the Lakers are too experienced. Kobe has been in tough situations before, like winning championships, and Pau Gasol and the other Lakers have been in a similar situation last year. I'm pulling for you Denver. Take down the Lakers.

Re: Lakers vs. Nuggets

I've got a feeling that the Lakers are gonna go through this series very seriously and end up playing some top-notch basketball. Like you said, they seem to show up and play their best when it really matters. Although Denver is a very strong team, the Laker threats Bryant and Gasol will be too much to handle. Also, their supporting cast will probably become a strong force in this series as well. In this Western Conference Finals matchup, it is possible that the Lakers will lose a few games simply because of the caliber of the Denver team and the way they have been playing throughout their playoff run, but at the end I believe we will see the Lakers come out on top and take their place in the NBA Finals.

Cavs vs. Magic

The Cavs I believe have finally met a challenge. Howard will be difficult for the Cavs to handle, but I still think the Cavs will come out with the series win. How do you think the Cavs/Magic series will go?

Re: Cavs vs. Magic

I also think that this will be a tougher challenge because they are playing the magic and because they will play harder than ever because it is the conference finals. I think the cavs will end up winning this one in 6 games though and will be headed to the finals.

Re: Cavs vs. Magic

I agree here with you. The Cavs won't take this series in a sweep. They must slow down Dwight Howard. He is way too athletic and young for the more experience "Z". If the Cavs can't slow Howard down, the Magic will steamrole into the NBA Finals.

The Cavs are on a roll!

The Cavs swept another series by beating the Atlanta Hawks 4-0. The Cavs seem to be dominating in their playoff run. The team has been playing outstanding. Do you think they will continue dominating in the playoffs or will they run into an obstacle? If they do meet a challenge, when will it be and which team will give them trouble?

Re: The Cavs are on a roll!

I think the cavs will have no problem in the eastern conferance finals, they proably wont sweep again like the last two series, but we will win in 5 or 6 games. The biggest test for them is when they do make it to the finals if they can stay healthy agianst the western conferance champs, which I could see the lakers or nuggets getting it im not certain yet because of the way the lakers have been playing. All in all i think the cavs have a great shot at winning the championship and finally bringing one home to cleveland.

Re: The Cavs are on a roll!

I do not think that the Cavs will sweep another time, i wish they would because it woud be so sweet! But i do not think it will happen. They will have to play 6 games next round i think and come out with the win. But once we reach the finals it could be a challange but i still think that we will pull away and win it!

05/13/2009 02:53pm
Re: The Cavs are on a roll!

If it so happens that the Cavs have to play the celtics i think they will sweep them to the Celtics have had a chaos filled playoff run this year most of all there games have came down to the last wire and you know deep down inside there getting tired, but if they play the magics it should go 5-6 games with the cavs pulling another conf title to Cleveland then its on to the Championship to play Kobe and the Lakers because the Nuggets do not have the talent nor size to compete with the lakers.

05/13/2009 03:48pm
Re: The Cavs are on a roll!

I don't think the Cavs will sweep again in the playoffs, but I don't see the Celtics or Magic giving the Cavs any problem. The Celtics are too depleated, and the Magic just can't match up to the skill of the Cavs. The Cavs will win in 5 or 6. They only team that may give the Cavs a problem is the Lakers, but I think the Cavs will beat them as a team, especially defensively, compared to a more one-man-show team.

Re: The Cavs are on a roll!

Although I feel that the Cavs won't be able to pull off another sweep in the remainder of the playoffs, I do believe that they will have a pretty easy ride to the finals. In facing either the Celtics or Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals, it seems as if Lebron and company will have no problem pulling off another series victory. Once in the Finals, however, they will have their work cut out for them with either Los Angeles or Denver. Before the NBA post season began, I was pretty confident that we would see a Lakers/Cavs final with L.A. coming away with the tropy. While this is still a possibility, the way the Lakers have been playing recently is giving the Cavs the edge in my book. Either way, it is inevitable that the Cavs won't have it this easy for too much longer.

Re: The Cavs are on a roll!

The Cavs will be meeting their first obstacle in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic. Slowing down the inside presence of Dwight Howard will decide the outcome of the series. But I feel the Cavs can take this series in 6 games if they can slow Howard down, and if the team can keep up its intensity the whole series.

Will the Rockets dominate in this series?

Houston won Game 1 in the series against the Lakers. The game was at Los Angeles so it was a big win for the Rockets. If Houston wins the rest of their home games in the series, they will advance. How do you think the rest of the series will go with Houston winning Game 1 at Los Angeles?

Re: Will the Rockets dominate in this series?

I believe that the first game that the Houston Rockets won was a fluke. Yao Ming may have dominated in the post in Game 1 but the Lakers are too experienced and Kobe Bryant is too good of a player to go out in the playoffs this early. Though I do think it will be a good series in the end. I feel that the Lakers will advance to the Western Conference finals in 6 games. Not only does Los Angeles have Kobe, but they also have the players that surround him who can match-up with anyone around the league.

I would say the Rockets had a good chance in beating the lakers but now since Yao is out to with a fractured foot i dont think theres any hope left i wish Tracy and Yao were both healthy to give the lakers a run for there money honestly if they had both of them I think the Rockets would come out of that round and advance to the next but there is no chance left for them.

M.V.P. goes to.....Lebron James!

Lebron was honored as the NBA's Most Valuable Player for the 2008-2009 season. He took 109 of the 121 first-place votes while Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade finished second and third respectively. What are your feelings about Lebron receiving his first M.V.P. award and also being the first Cavalier to win this award?

Re: M.V.P. goes to.....Lebron James!

Last year a felt that Lebron James was cheated out of the M.V.P. But as this year progressed I realized that James really didn't have a true team behind him last year. And as this year went along, James and the Cavs were dominant in the league. His minutes played in games went down but his stats stayed consistant with last year. So I'm sure that was taked into account when the voting came along. I mean if I were to vote I would have looked at how his team went, 66-16, and how his stats were, never changed with last years. So whats not to like about with James as the M.V.P.? Nothing to me. Hes fully deserving of this accomplishment. Plus Cleveland has been wating almost 30 years for another player that got voted Most Valuable Player in their respective pro league.

I think Lebron definitely deserved this award. I feel that this is a great honor for not only him and the rest of the Cavs but also to Cleveland. I can’t believe that the last person to win an MVP award was back in the 80s and that a Cavs player has never won it! I’m very happy Lebron won it!

Lebron DEFINATELY deserves this honor. If you ask me, its a little past due, but nonetheless, Lebron is the right pick for MVP. He dominates on the court and is a very gracious person off the court. Now if he can bring home the NBA title, we'll be all set.

What do you think about Mikki Moore?

While in Chicago for the senior trip, a few of us saw Mikki Moore at Walgreens since the Celtics were in town for the Celtics-Bulls game that night. I wanted to know what your feelings were about Moore. Two years ago he played for the Nets. The Cavs played the Nets in the playoffs so Cavs fans got a little taste of his character. What are your thoughts about Mikki Moore?

Re: What do you think about Mikki Moore?

Seeing Mikki Moore at Walgreen's was awesome! I'm pretty sure he was like a foot behind me at one point. Too bad I was too concerned about finding the proper t-shirt rather than noticing who he was. Anyways, in regards to his style of play - he is one rowdy guy! For some reason, though, I find his behavior extremely entertaining and humerous. People who get angry really easily just crack me up. It's a hoot. Further, as Boston and Cleveland have a potential matchup coming up in the playoffs, I feel that a fight breaking out is inevitable. With fiery and emotional players on the court such as Moore, Lebron James, and Paul Pierce, there is sure to be some exciting action for us! For this reason, I enjoy the playing style and character of Mikki Moore very much.

Without the Celtics' injuries, do you think they could have had a more successful season? Could they have gone further in the Playoffs? Without two of their key players, Garnett and Powe, how far do you think they will make it in the Playoffs?

Re: Do you think the Celtics could win the title this year?

The Celtics really struggled the last series against the Chicago Bulls, and the upcoming series versus Orlando will not be any easier. The Bulls didn't really a have a post player that matched well with Boston. And now the Celtics have to play a team with a lagitimit post player in Dwight Howard. I believe Howard will dominate in the post in the series but the Cletics are too experienced. Celtics in 6 games.

Who will win the Finals?

The Cavs are having an outstanding year. They are currently right on top in the NBA but they do have some teams just under them who are competitive and will make their playoff run challenging. The Lakers are doing well too, along with the several other tough franchises. The Cavs and the Lakers seem to be the top teams now. Will either the Cavs or Lakers last until the end, or will another team come out on top. Which team do you think will win the Finals?

Re: Who will win the Finals?

It's always easy to pick two persoonal favorites (Cavs and Lakers) and say that they will make it to the Finals. I think that the Cavs will make it without a doubt. The Lakers on the other hand, the end is near. Although, the Cavs are going to have challenge when it comes time to play the Magic. The Celtics are not nearly the same team without Kevin Garnett (The Big Ticket). It's going to be a battle without his double digits and great agility. And for a West Conference round-up, I think either Denver or Dallas will dominate the Lakers in the Conference Championship and will be seen in the finals.

Re: Who will win the Finals?

I think it's pretty safe to say that we're gonna see a Lakers/Cavs match-up in this year's NBA Finals. Not only are they the best teams in their prospective conferences, but their talent and skill is untouchable. However, athough both teams have dominated play throughout the 2008-2009 season thus far, once they do reach the finals it'll be a whole different story. They will both be playing teams who are just as good as them, and also have the capability to overpower anyone they face. While it will be both an exciting and tough finals, probably lasting the full seven games, I feel as if the Lakers will come out on top. With players such as the pair of Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant, the Cavs will have their hands full and, in my prediction, come up just short of holding the 2009 NBA Championship trophy.

Who is the most important player to their team's success?

Players may stand out for the amount of points they score, the number of rebounds they have, or the excitement they bring to the league, but few players are often truly appreciated for how they carry their teams. Lebron James is a true example of one who is an outstanding player yet holds the importance of leading his team which few have done before. When arriving in Cleveland, Lebron joined a franchise that wasn't having the best success. Over the last several years, Lebron has grown as a player and developed a team around him as well. Lebron is key in bringing the players around him together for one common goal: to win a championship. And it seems that this year it is a very good possibility. Which player do you think is the most important to their team's success?

Re: Who is the most important player to their team's success?

The Heat are absolutely nothing without their star player, Dwayne Wade. The Cavs, on the other hand, are still a playoff type team without LeBron (although his talent is much needed). But the Heat are arguably the worst team in the NBA without Wade.
I am not saying by any means that Wade deserves the MVP more than LeBron, because LeBron led his team to a NBA-best 66-16 record while Wade only managed to lead his Heat to a 43-39 record. If you know anything about sports that is just slightly above .500. But both the young ahtletes stats are very comparable.
Points Per game
Lebron James 26.8
Dwayne Wade 28.2
Rebounds Per Game
Lebron James 6.7
Dwayne Wade 4.8
Assists Per Game
Lebron James 6.1
Dwayne Wade 7.9
Blocks Per Game
Lebron James 0.7
Dwayne Wade 1.1
Steals Per Game
Lebron James 1.6
Dwayne Wade 2.1
3s Made Per Game
Lebron James 1.3
Dwayne Wade 0.5

Re: Who is the most important player to their team's success?

No doubt Mo Willaims of Cleveland is the player to the Cavs success. Since he joined this past fall it has shown that he has been the true difference maker in the Cavs season. He is able to do a little of what he wants and releave the pressure from Lebron James. Mo's stats may not be as good as they could if he were the star player on another team, but I feel he fits best with the Cavs.
