This week Ralf Hellbarth answers to our three questions call. On Amazee, he runs two projects, one about orthopedagogy in Siberia, another one about social pedagogy in Siberia. With his Swiss-German organization he and his colleagues support mentally and physically disabled children and youth in the Russian town of Irkutsk. How does he use Amazee?
Why are you on Amazee?
Because we, as a German-Swiss team for the support of
orthopedagogic and social pedagogic institutions in Siberia, have to tap into online portals which allow for donations. Especially since the will to donate has decreased significantly in the German speaking countries. Someone told me about Amazee and i signed up.
In what way does Amazee help you reach your goals?
Our initiative was welcomed "with open arms" immediately! I was surprised, for example, to find our orthopedagogical day school in Irkutsk on the start page as "Project of the day" right after I signed up. We also soon gained new members and I was offered help. When I needed help, it was given immediately, dedicated and in a friendly manner.
Amazee is very active when it comes to pointing out the various initiatives on the platform and gives a lot of different opportunities to present one's cause – maybe I haven't even seen all the possibilities ... Our orthopedagogical day school "Talisman" for example has already been two times in the voting for the "project of the month" (we made 2nd place first time, so there was a second round for us).
What impact will the Internet have on social action in the future?
I am no internet expert, but the different possibilities to network on Amazee have convinced me. Not only on a personal (member) level I can show solidarity, but also when I join another Amazee project as a member, and I can also join into an alliance with others. Of course the children and youth of Siberia are dear to my heart, but also all the other children of this earth.
